A tribute to Pat Gibson
24 Sep 2013
Pat Gibson pictured above is outside Silver Tree Jewellery when it was situated at the back of Lancaster market on Sir Simons Arcade.
Silver Tree Jewellery began its journey in Lancaster over twenty-five years ago with Patricia Gibson, initially as the only specialist silver shop in the city. Now with her son Oliver, it is the most exclusive one stop shop for discerning jewellery aficionados with Michael Kors watches, Swarovski, Vivienne Westwood and their official partnership with Thomas Sabo.
Silver Tree Jewellery, on Sir Simons Arcade, was the one destination that the people of Lancaster bought their silver and unique gemstone jewellery from. The boutique then moved to Penny Street, Lancaster, where Pat took ownership in 1991; at this time the jewellery boutique also sold gifts and clothes.
Since Oliver Gibson, Pat's son, started in 2005 he has completely revolutionised the existing shop. With a smart business sense and forward thinking ideas the shop began its journey.
Phase 1 - This included incorporating new brands. Silver Tree held a promotion day where Carly Stenson aka Stephanie Dean from the cast of Hollyoaks unveiled the new shop - pictured below with Pat and Cookie from The Bay Radio. Also pictured is myself (Hannah), Kate, Oliver and Bekah.
Phase 2 - Creating a Thomas Sabo shop-in-shop. This redesign produced many of the Silver Tree features we still see today like the stunning 3D wallpaper.
Phase 3 - As you can tell by the previous pictures something had to be done about the lighting! So Oliver installed LED lighting throughout the shop and shop window and also introduced a wall cabinet in eye-catching red.
Phase 4 - Is nearly complete! Oliver has modernised the shop to include a new parquet wood floor and glass chandelier's. The Silver Tree Jewellery is a glow of white and sparkly treats inside and we are also anticipating the arrival of a new collection, Links of London.
Pat Gibson has given so much to Silver Tree Jewellery and Oliver over the years. She has guided the decision making and planning to make it into the successful jewellery boutique it is today.
She will be missed but definitely not forgotten! Thank you for your patience, kind words and cards in this difficult time for all at Silver Tree Jewellery.
